Apartment clearance costs
What does it cost to clear an apartment in Switzerland?
The price of a clearance consists of working time, transport and evacuation. The disposal portion is most often underestimated, because landfills and incineration plants charge by weight: depending on the object, this represents 30 to 50 percent of the bill.
Billing is generally done by volume (CHF 90 – 180 per m³) or by effort (CHF 70 – 95 per hour). For a complete clearance, a fixed price written after the visit is generally safer: if the company is wrong in its estimate, it assumes the risk.
Only dispose of individual furniture or bulky items, without clearing the whole apartment? Then compare disposal companies.

FAQ about Clearance
Answers on prices, process and points to check in quotes – especially for Clearance.
How much does an apartment clearance cost?
For a complete clearance with transport and professional evacuation, the benchmarks are: 2.5 room apartment CHF 800 – 1,400, 3.5 room apartment CHF 1,000 – 1,800, 4.5 rooms CHF 1,500 – 2,600 and detached house with cellar and attic CHF 2,500 – 5,000. The final price depends on the volume, access and the paid evacuation share.
How do clearance companies charge: by the cubic meter, by the hour or by the flat rate?
By volume, CHF 90 – 180 per m³ is common, including transport and disposal. At the effort, one person costs CHF 70 – 95 per hour, plus vehicle and dump fees. For a complete clearance, a fixed price written after the visit is often safer, because the risk of estimation error remains with the service provider.
How much does a partial clearance of a cellar, attic or garage cost?
Partial clearances are significantly cheaper than a complete clearance: a room CHF 250 – 500, cellar compartment or attic CHF 300 – 700, garage or covered parking space CHF 350 – 800. Insulated and bulky furniture are often charged CHF 40 – 120 per room.
Are furniture and appliances that are still usable deducted from the costs?
In part. Branded kitchens in good condition, quality built-in appliances, antiques, tools and larger quantities of metal can be valued and realistically lower the bill by 5–20%. Ordinary household furniture, upholstered sets and mattresses, on the other hand, bring in too little. A completely free clearance remains the exception and implies a high resale value.
Is end of tenancy cleaning included and how long does a clearance take?
A clearance usually ends up swept away; end-of-lease cleaning with guarantee of delivery for handing over the accommodation additionally costs around CHF 4–10 per m². Over time, a 2 to 3 room apartment is often emptied in one day, larger items take one to three days. End of month dates should be booked 2–4 weeks in advance.
