It costs more than an upright piano, because the legs and pedal board are disassembled, the instrument is placed on a transport chassis then reassembled. Local benchmarks: CHF 700–1’200 for a half-grand piano and CHF 1’100–2’000 for a concert piano; interregionally, both are higher. Dismantling, protection, assembly and insurance must appear as separate items in the offer.

Not necessarily right away. Changes in temperature and humidity can influence the agreement. Let the instrument acclimatize first, then arrange the timing with a piano maker. The agreement is generally not included in the transport price.

When instrument, turning radius or staircase width do not allow safe transport in the building. Photos and measurements of the entrance, stairwell, elevator and window or balcony access help the service provider check feasibility and additional costs.

Check demonstrable experience with piano and grand piano, suitable transport equipment, civil operating liability and a written offer. Price, personnel, protection, dismantling, portage route, insurance and deductible must be clear. Document the condition of the instrument before delivery.
